“Lindalee’s Law” (AB 1770) Clears Assembly Appropriations Committee, Advances to Assembly Floor Vote
Bill empowers Attorney General To Provide Oversight of Large Private Health Plans to Help Ensure Compliance With the California Arbitration Act, Increase Impartiality in Healthcare Arbitration
Sacramento, CA – The Patient Equity Coalition announced that “Lindalee’s Law” (AB 1770), a bill introduced by Assembly Assistant Majority Leader Robert Garcia (D-Rancho Cucamonga) to protect patients forced into healthcare arbitration, advanced out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee today. The bill will now head to the Assembly floor for a vote.
“I would really like to thank Committee Chair, Assemblymember Buffy Wicks for recognizing how important this bill is for advancing impartiality in healthcare arbitration,” said Stephen Martinez of the Patient Equity Coalition. “By empowering the Attorney General to provide oversight, this bill will make the existing healthcare arbitration system fairer and more responsive to patients. We will continue making the case for Lindalee’s Law (AB 1770) as the Assembly floor vote draws near.”
